Dr John Saad - Senior Practice Principal

With 32 years of clinical experience Dr Saad is the Senior Practice Principal and the Head of our clinical team at Ambience Dental. John graduated from Sydney University in 1985 and held a part time position as a clinical tutor at Sydney University whilst working part time with Dr Pearman in private Practice. John partnered with Dr John Pearman some 30 years ago and together they established the most trusted Dental Practice in the Illawarra with a reputation for delivering the highest quality dental care. Today we have grown to be a large team Practice with expertise in all facets of dentistry.

John is passionate about patients being treated in a non-traumatic and compassionate manner with a strong emphasis on patient care. In 1987 John completed post graduate training and certification of Intravenous sedation in dental surgery, London. Today, John oversees and directs our Sedation unit and has worked closely with anaesthetists Dr Liam Negus and Dr Bernard Grundy to ensure the highest quality of care is given to our patients in the safest possible fashion. This unit offers patients an opportunity to have dental surgery performed in a sedated state with little or no recollection of the procedure performed. John has a particular interest in Implant Surgery and Crown and Bridge work. John has completed extensive training under world renowned surgeon Dr Steven Chen and has completed numerous national and international courses in implant surgery and Implant Prosthetics.

Outside of his dental practice, John enjoys skiing, cycling, photography and food. Johns is also a mad St. George Illawarra Dragons supporter. John is very proud of the team at Ambience Dental.

Dr Ahmed Bedeir BDS - Practice Principal

Ahmed Bedier graduated with Bachelor of Dental Science (BDs) in 2003. He then started working in a private practice along with the oral surgery department, Alexandria University - Egypt where he held the position for 2 years. He then became a member of the ICOI (International Congress of Oral Implantology). After this, he was then attending all sorts of oral implant courses.


In 2004, he was the main dentist in the German hospital, Alexandria - Egypt where he acquired massive clinical experience especially in Root Canal Treatment. In 2010 he moved to Australia and proudly joined Ambience Dental.
In March 2012 he started, and has now completed, his Masters degree in Oral Implants in Frankfurt, Germany (Geothe University).
Ahmed is a surfer, tennis player (Wollongong comp first division). He also enjoys snow boarding and motor bike riding. He is a former basketball player; as a former member of two different clubs, he played for the team that won the Egyptian Basketball League in 1996.

Dr Kamal Ahmed - Specialist Orthodontist

D Clin Dent (Ortho), BDS (Hons), FRACDS, MRACDS, M Orth (RSCEd)

Dr Kamal AhmedKamal graduated from Sydney University in 2004 and joined Pearman and Saad as an associate. He gained a fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Dental (RACDS) in 2008 in restorative and periodontics. He then went back to Sydney University and trained as a specialist orthodontist. He is a member of the Royal Australasian college of Dental Surgeons in orthodontics and also the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in Orthodontics, both by examination

Kamal is a registered specialist orthodontist, giving him extensive knowledge in the area of orthodontics and equipping him to present you with treatment options to improve your smile and to develop a timely treatment, whether you are a child, teenager or simply an adult wanting to improve your smile.

Kamal enjoys long walks on the beach, puppies, world peace and is known to have a good sense of humour. On a more serious note he has travelled to Burma and Thailand several times working in refugee camps treating displaced adults and children, as well as helping to train local medics in basic dental treatment.


Dr John Pearman BDS - Dentist

Dr John Pearman began his career as a dentist in Figtree in 1979 following graduation from Sydney University in 1978.
John's interests lie in all aspects of cosmetic dentistry including crown and bridge and implants. John has been restoring and placing implants for over 20 years.
Besides Dentistry, John has a passion for fishing in the Northern Territory and South Australia; many of his patients enjoy hearing of his adventures and close encounters with the local wildlife.
John recently set up a dental facility in the Philippines to provide the local population with a badly needed service, in conjunction with an ongoing Rotary Medical/Dental mission.

 


Dr Simon Wright - Oral Surgeon

Dr Wright has worked extensively as an Oral Surgeon and brings broad knowledge and skills to Ambience Dental. Dr Wright is friendly, approachable, and willing to go above and beyond to achieve the best results. Dr Wright's specialist interest involves management of complicated or high-risk wisdom teeth with CBCT planning and bone / sinus augmentation for dental implant cases. He will aim to work with the referring clinician to provide the best service for your patients.

Dr Wright has been trained in some of the most recognised hospitals in the UK; Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, King's College Hospital, London, Eastman Dental Hospital, London and Edinburgh Dental Institute, Edinburgh. After graduating in 1998 with a BDS (Hons) from the University of Manchester in the UK, he then completed a BSc (Hons) in Pathology as part of a prestigious Medical Research Council (MRC) Scholarship. As part of his specialist training Dr Wright also has a medical degree MBChB from the University of Manchester, UK in 2009.

Dr Wright is a very keen teacher and currently examines for the Royal College of Surgeons of England in the Postgraduate Certificate in Minor Oral Surgery course and is part of the Teaching Faculty at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Dr Arun Thangavel - Specialist Prosthodontist

Arun completed his undergraduate dental training at the University of Otago, New Zealand in 2006. After working at Westmead hospital with Pearman & Saad in Figtree for a number of years, he successfully undertook specialist training in Prosthodontics at the University of Sydney. A Prosthodontist is a specialist with expertise in restorative, reconstructive and aesthetic dentistry. Arun has completed 3 years of additional specialist training on completion of his Bachelor in Dentistry and specialising in dental implants, crowns, bridges, veneers, dentures, Temperomandobular disorders (TMDs), snoring and sleep apnoea.
A Prosthodontist approaches patient treatment with a focus on comprehensive diagnosis and the formulation of an evidence-based treatment plan. Prosthodontists restore smiles and bites to their natural appearance and optimal function.
Known for his dedication and attention to detail, Arun aims for the highest standards in terms of function and aesthetics. His special interests within prosthodontics include immediate loading of dental implants, digital dentistry and dental ceramics. Arun’s research into all-ceramic restorative materials won a prestigious research award at the 15th International College of Prosthodontists conference. Arun also holds a position at Westmead Hospital where he is also involved in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Arun is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS), the International College of Prosthodontists (ICP), the Australian Society of Prosthodontists (ASP), and the Academy of Australian and New Zealand Prosthodontists (AANZP).
Aside from dentistry, Arun is passionate about cricket and photography. He loves to travel and has been involved in providing charity dental treatment in rural southern India.


Dr Bernard Negus - Consultant Anaesthetist

Dr Bernard Negus is a senior specialist anesthetist operating in the Illawarra for 30 years.
Dr Negus graduated from The University of Sydney and received extensive training at Bristol Hospital in England and further training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. He holds appointments at Wollongong Public Hospital, Wollongong Private Hospital, Shellharbour Private Hospital, The Wollongong Day Surgery and Hurstville Private Hospital.
Dr Negus heads our anesthetist team at Ambience Dental and has been instrumental in setting up IV Sedation for our anxious patients.

Dr Jana Nikolovski - Dentist

Ambience Dental Dr Jana NikolovskiDr Jana Nikolovski is originally from Wollongong and moved to Adelaide to study dentistry in 2005. She completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Adelaide and graduated in 2009. Since then she has worked in private and rural practices in both South Australia and New South Wales. In 2014 she completed her Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

Jana has particular interests in endodontics and paediatric dentistry, as well as helping educate pregnant women in oral health practices before, during and after their pregnancy. She feels this is an area where there is a consistent lack information and support.

Outside of dentistry, Jana loves to travel. She took a little break from her dental career to travel the world for 14 months in 2014-2015. She spent a year travelling around South America and learning Spanish during this time. When she returned from her travels, Jana began a side business in handmade jewellery and is continually surprised by the many similarities between dentistry and jewellery making!

Dr Amna Khattak - Dentist

Dr Amna Khattak Dentist Ambience DentalDr Amna Khattak completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2009 from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Pakistan. Amna gained practical experience in public and private sectors including placement at a busy tertiary care hospital.

Amna entered fellowship training programme in Maxillofacial Surgery in 2011 and gained valuable experience before moving to Australia. 

Amna has special interests in paediatric and restorative dentistry and has also been involved in charity work in remote areas of Northern Pakistan. Amna currently plans to complete Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons.

Besides dentistry, Amna enjoys cooking and baking and in particular loves learning and experimenting with different cuisines.

Meghana Pai – Oral Health Therapist

Meghana graduated with a Bachelors of Oral Health (hygiene/therapy) in 2014, and worked within the public sector of dentistry at The Northern Hospital in Melbourne, Victoria in 2015. Meg has worked both in the private and public clinics in rural and metropolitan NSW and Victoria.

In 2016, Meg returned to her hometown, Wollongong, and is currently working as a dental hygienist and therapist with Ambience Dental. Meg currently holds the position of Assistant Secretary for the ADOHTA NSW -Oral Health Therapist’s professional association.

As an Oral Health Therapist, Meg enjoys the preventative and early intervention aspect of dentistry and is passionate about tailoring diet and hygiene advice to suit the individual needs and lifestyle of her patients. Meg strives to provide comfortable and effective treatment and works collaboratively with the dentists and specialists at Ambience dental to ensure best treatment outcomes for her clients

Meg has undertaken volunteer work in rural Australia at various Aboriginal dental facilities as well as travelled to Cambodia and South India to provide dental treatment to children living with special needs and poverty.

Besides her obsession with teeth, Meg enjoys exploring cultures and cuisines through her travels and restaurant bucket list.

Chantelle Chapman - Hygienist

Chantelle Chapman Hygienist Ambience DentalChantelle has a wealth of experience in both general and specialist dental settings. Chantelle has worked in practices in both Sydney and the Illawarra regions and brings to Ambience Dental a passion and experience that is highly regarded. Chantelle began her career in the dental industry during 1997 and then went on to achieve her Diploma of Dental Hygiene in 2004.

Chantelle has several years of experience as a clinical educator with the University of Sydney, working in Westmead’s special care unit. This involved educating students and caring for patients with special needs. Chantelle is down to earth and very approachable. Being a highly skilled dental hygienist, she has plenty of tricks up her sleeve to keep you motivated with your home care and appointments are kept light hearted, but informative.

Chantelle enjoys keeping up with the changing face of dentistry. Her specialties are the management of gum and periodontal disease, diet related dental conditions as well as caring for phobic and special needs patients. Chantelle enjoys cooking, cleaning and washing (according to her 4 year old). But really she enjoys gardening and sharing a laugh with family and friends. 

Aislinn Creagh - Oral Health Therapist

Aislinn Creagh graduated from Sydney University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Oral Health (Therapy). Since then she has been working in the Wollongong area in private practice as both a dental hygienist and a dental therapist.
As a dental hygienist, Aislinn provides periodontal treatment to all ages, including preventative treatment and treatment for gum disease. As a therapist she sees children up to 18 years old providing exams, restorations and extractions and pulp treatment in primary teeth.
She endeavours to provide gentle and thorough care to all her patients, and will work with you to make sure your appointment is a comfortable experience.
Aislinn has a particular interest in patient education, which she believed is the start to any improvement in oral health, and she is always keen to address any questions or concerns. She also emphasises the significance of personalised home care plans, including the demonstration of oral care products and giving dietary advice.
Aislinn is committed to ongoing education and has attended many seminars and post graduate courses.
